Global Information Inc. would like to present a new market research report, "2012 Digital HUDs for Civil Aircraft Report" by Insight Media.
Insight Medias new report entitled, "2012 Digital HUDs for Civil Aircraft" provides product analysis and forecasts for Head-Up Display (HUDs) in commercial transport and business jet platforms. The analysis is an update to a 2009 report that covered the use of digital HUDs in military and civil aircraft, as well as automobiles.
In this update, we provide an overview of the civil aircraft HUD landscape describing the value proposition for HUDs and the use of advanced capabilities like Enhanced Vision System (EVS) and synthetic-vision systems (SVS). These solutions allow the HUD to combine flight-deck generated symbology and overlay it on either real world images or synthetic, database-driven images of the terrain. Analysis includes descriptions of the various HUD products that have been developed for the civil aircraft market, their strengths and weaknesses, and state of commercialization.
The 2012 update indicates that the production rate of HUDs for commercial transport aircraft has increased substantially. This is driven by the increased use of dual-HUD cockpits and the expanded production rate for commercial aircraft. In the business jet market, the great recession has had more of an impact, with production rates of HUDs now slightly lower than in 2009. Conservative, expected and optimistic unit HUD forecasts are provided along with a revenue forecast.
