A new study from The Radicati Group projects that spam will account for over 45% of all email messages in 2003, and grow to 70% by 2007.
The Radicati Group, Inc.'s latest study "Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam and Content Filtering Market Trends, 2003-2007" provides market size, four-year forecasts, technology trends, and competitive information for the Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam and Content Filtering markets. The study projects that viruses will cause over $28 billion in economic damages in 2003, and over $75 billion by the year 2007.
While messaging systems remain the most targeted technology, handheld devices and instant messaging systems are also starting to fall prey to virus infections and spammer's schemes. The study looks at the traditional solutions available to secure vital electronic channels, as well as discusses emerging technologies for anti-virus, anti-spam and content filtering markets, complete with examples of established and new promising players and their products.
According to the study, total revenues for anti-virus solutions are expected to approach $1.8 billion by 2003, and grow to over $6.1 billion by 2007. The sales of anti-spam and content filtering solutions are expected to top $653 million in 2003, and grow to almost $2.4 billion by 2007.
