The worldwide market for LED lighting fixtures (excluding retrofit lamps) is
close to 8 billion USD, equal to over 10% of the worldwide consumption (and
probably some 3% in terms of physical units). Yearly growth has been close to
70% during 2011, that is over the previous expectations.
The third edition of the CSIL multiclient Report "LEDs and the worldwide
market for lighting fixtures" is mainly based on around 500 interviews with
manufacturers and retailers of lighting fixtures worldwide during the first
half of 2012, plus statistical data and overall CSIL market knowledge in the
lighting fixtures sector.
Consumption of LED based lighting fixtures is estimated for the years
2006-2011 and forecasted for the years 2012-2015. The worldwide market for LED
lighting fixtures (excluding retrofit lamps) is close to 8 billion USD, equal
to over 10% of the worldwide consumption (and probably some 3% in terms of
physical units). Yearly growth has been close to 70% during 2011, that is over
the previous expectations.
Today's LED lighting market is made by around 80% of lighting fixtures (focus
of our study) and 20% LED retrofit lamps. Data are given in million USD and in
percentage values on total lighting fixtures. Annual percentage changes
2006-2015 of LED based lighting fixtures are also included. Countries
considered: Western Europe, Central-Eastern Europe, Russia, China, Japan,
India, Asia Pacific, United States, Latin America, Middle East, Africa.
A breakdown of LED lighting fixtures worldwide market is provided by segment
(residential, commercial, industrial, outdoor lighting).
One hundred among the top manufacturers of lighting fixtures hold around two
thirds of the total LED lighting market for 2011.
Their sales increased (in the LED segment) by 34% in one year. The top 100
share on the total LED lighting fixtures market worldwide decreased from 87%
to 67% (meaning a wider market for new comers).
In the ranking there are both company using LEDs for some 15%-20% of their
company turnover, and LED lighting specialists.
For around 100 companies it is available a time series of LED based sales of
lighting fixtures.
