High performance analog includes any analog product, such as data converters, amplifiers, interface, etc. that are high speed, precision, or based on any specification where performance is valued above price.

The focus of this report is high performance analog, which includes higher end analog chips including such product categories as high speed amplifiers, precision amplifiers, high speed data converters, high speed interface, and also higher efficiency power management and voltage regulators. As these high-margin semiconductors typically represent the latest in analog technology advancements, growth in the HPA industry helps provide improved power and performance in the latest end devices in fast growing markets such as HD audio and video, portable consumer, digital wireless, broadband access, and portable medical.

Databeans expects that the global HPA market will reach $12.9 billion this year, a 2 percent increase from 2011, and will grow at an estimated CAGR of 10 percent annually over the next five years. This market is further broken down into high performance ASSPs and high performance standard linear, also known as general purpose or "multi-market". General purpose HPA accounts for the majority of revenue, with $7.3 billion in 2012 sales, however, application specific products are growing at a faster rate with a CAGR of 11 percent projected until 2017.
