Abstract
The WORLDWIDE DIGITAL SWITCHING STATUS AND FORECASTS report is comprised of detailed analyses of the installed and on-order positions of the digital switch suppliers on the world market. Dittberner Associates provides with analyses of both the supply side and the demand side of the global market for digital switching systems. In addition, analyses by manufacturer and by country are provided at various levels of detail. The primary goal of this study is to provide a measure of the overall penetration of digital switching technology in public telecommunications networks worldwide and to measure the relative success of each supplier in each major Telecom Operator Network, Country, Region and Worldwide. Most importantly, it provides forecasts of the growth (positive and negative) of digital switching over the next 5 years. These forecasts provide a realistic metric of the impact of both next generation packet switching and of cellular displacement of wireline subscribers.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS REPORT FOR INCUMBENT CARRIERS
- Permit a realistic assessment of the strategies being utilized by service providers worldwide regarding further growth of their installed base of digital switches.
- Provide the most comprehensive picture obtainable of the current status of the installed base and on-order position of central office digital switching for each telecom service provider, country, region and world total for wireline service infrastructure.
- Provide insights on overall market trends, including digital technology evolution, and their future impact.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS REPORT FOR DIGITAL SWITCH SUPPLIERS
- Provide insights on telecom service provider plans for expansion capping or replacing digital central office switching systems during the next decade.
- Give realistic switch vendor market share information by telecom service provider, country, region and world total.
- Provide an informed forecast of digital switching system host and port growth through 2009 -- for wireline service providers.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS REPORT FOR NGN AND VOICE-OVER-PACKET INFRASTRUCTURE VENDORS
- Provide informed insights as to how rapidly telecom service providers are likely to implement these new technologies.
- Provide guidance on how telecom service providers plan to evolve toward Next Generation Packet Networks, and in what incremental steps.
- Guide your sales and marketing efforts to those telecom service providers who have already decided to cap or start replacing digital switches, as well as to the countries and regions most likely to be strong prospects for NGN switching equipment in the next few years.
