DSL, FTTH and FTTB/LAN Shipment Analysis published by Dittberner Associates, Inc. in October, 2008. This report price starts from US $ 5000.
Abstract
Executive Summary:
I. Report Changes
Data Changes:
Now Point-to-point Ethernet CPE device ports were reported for 2Q08 and for
1Q08. This is to bring P2P market reports in line with PON where CPE, (ONT),
and central office (OLT) ports are reported.
II. Market Analysis
DSL Shipments Up 14% in 2Q08- Huawei Takes Lead from Alcatel-Lucent, ZTE and ZyXel follow.
DSL port shipments in 2Q08 were up 13% from the first quarter but still lower
than the record set in 4Q07. Dittberner still expects that DSL shipments will
be down this year as part of a longer term trend as the growth of new
broadband subscribers slows and the replacement of the ATM DSLAMs and the
unbundling of LOOPs in Europe reaches completion. Even though growth was up,
most suppliers saw declines. This was because APAC shipments were up. Huawei
took the lead from Alcatel-Lucent for the first time, and three of the top
four vendors were based in either in China or Taiwan. This quarter was on pace
to provide about 92 Million DSL port shipments which is what is in line with
Dittberner' s forecast.
FTTH Shipments up 22%- Rate is on target for 11.6 Million ports for 2008.
In 2Q08 FTTH shipments were up 22% from the record first quarter of 2008,
largely on the growth in Japan. NTT added 700,000 subscribers and KDDI added
200,000. North America was a little slower due to sluggish growth at Verizon
and the housing downturn in the USA. Korea was a little slower than expected
as well. The number of point-to-point Ethernet ports rose sharply as well,
due to growth in Europe and Asia. China seems to have begun a large
deployment, which may pick up steam and become a real force on the market.
III. Shipment Analysis
Huawei, ZTE and ZyXel' s DSL Shares Increase. All FTTH Vendors' Shares Decrease
The worksheet titled, "BBA Rolling 4 Quarter Market Share", shows the ports
shipped in the previous 4 quarters for each vendor in each of the quarters
from 2Q07-2Q08. The results for the top 5 suppliers for 2Q07-2Q08 for both
DSL and FTTH are broken out in the tables.
About The BBA Quarterly Shipment Analysis Interactive Tool
The BBA Shipment Analysis Interactive Tool has been devised to provide you
with customizable tables and charts for personal analysis. The tool is easy to
use and gives you control over the various parameters.
The quarterly and annual shipment has been analyzed at various levels - BBA
ports shipped on a worldwide and regional basis, by broadband technology, by
access technology and by product. A quarter-over-quarter comparison of the
vendors is also presented. All of these tables can be either drilled down or
rolled up to give you a better understanding of the target market.
Note: The QoQ tables display 2Q08 results by default. By selecting the
"All" category under the "Quarter" classification, the past quarters' results
results can be displayed. Earlier quarterly results can also be displayed this
way.
- The Table of Contents page links you to the interactive tables.
- You can make your selection by vendor (25 vendors), region (All for
Worldwide, NA, EMEA, APAC, CALA), product (DSLAM, DLC, BLC/MALC, MSAP)),
technology (DSL - ADSL / ADSL2+ / VDSL /VDSL2/ SH.DSL / G.SHDSL; FTTH - BPON /
GEPON / GPON / EPON; Active Ethernet;FTTB/LAN). This will generate your
required table.
- Corresponding overview charts are provided to give you an graphical
understanding of your tabulated data.
