Abstract
In a TV market that dynamically changes on a daily basis, cost saving is not
only important in terms of market expansion but also securing profit. For PDP
TV, front-end Filter' s cost share accounts for 8.5% of TV Set production cost-
a single most expensive component. Filter' s annual price decline rate is
around 15% and is rather slow compared to the 20% of annual price decline rate
for the overall costs.
Looking at cost structure of PDP Filter, Mesh Film (EMI Shielding Function) is
one of the most expensive components taking 32% of the total costs. Saving
cost in Mesh Film is considered to be the top priority and currently Mesh Film
is divided into 4 categories depends on material and method: 1) Copper Etching
Mesh, 2) Fiber Mesh, 3) Silver Mesh and 4) Print Mesh. Also EMI Shielding Film
with transparent conductor coating method, which has recently gained demands
with its inexpensive price.
Recently many companies with printing/sputtering/coating technology are
increasing their participation which raises high hopes for price decline.
