Introduction

Abstract

C-mode is a cooperation between Coca-Cola and NTT-DoCoMo creating a link between DoCoMos i-mode phones, and networked softdrinks vending machines. C-mode is not just about paying for drinks with your mobile phone (actually, drinks are not charged to your phone bill), C-mode is a lot more: its a combined mobile commerce (m-commerce) platform, C-mode shows a path to leverage Japans omnipresent drink vending machines as a customer relationship management tool, and to dramatically expand the range of items being sold through softdrink vending machines: from concert tickets, to ringing tones, and in the future potentially train tickets, air tickets and many other things can be sold through Cmode.
