Hill-Rom Medical Device Company Intelligence Report published by Espicom Business Intelligence in February, 2010. This report consists of 44 PAGES and the price starts from US $ 515.
Abstract
Hill-Rom Holdings Inc. was incorporated in August 1969 and is
headquartered in Batesville, Indiana, US. The company is a leading
manufacturer and provider of patient support systems, mobility and handling
solutions, non-invasive therapeutic products for a variety of acute and
chronic medical conditions, medical equipment rentals and information
technology (IT) solutions. Its portfolio includes beds, therapy surfaces,
stretchers, patient lifts and slings, healthcare furniture, communication
systems, surgical columns, modular headwalls and devices to treat deep vein
thrombosis and respiratory problems. It is also a provider of medical
equipment outsourcing and asset management services. Hill-Rom' s products and
services are used in hospitals, extended care facilities and the home.
On 31st March 2008, Hill-Rom completed the spin-off of its funeral services
business operating under the Batesville Casket name. The first step was to
distribute certain assets and liabilities from the company and its medical
technology business subsidiaries to Hillenbrand Inc (formerly Batesville
Holdings Inc), the holding company for the Batesville Casket funeral services
business. In the second step, Hill-Rom made a tax-free one-for-one stock
dividend of 100% of the common stock of Hillenbrand Inc on a pro rata basis to
the Hill-Rom shareholders. In connection with the distribution, Hill-Rom,
formerly known as Hillenbrand Industries Inc, changed its name to Hill-Rom
Holdings Inc and Batesville Holdings Inc changed its name to Hillenbrand Inc.
Recent noteworthy business developments include the October 2008 acquisition
of Liko, a Sweden-based manufacturer of patient lifts, slings and other
accessories, which has added complementary technologies to Hill-Rom' s
portfolio and has expanded its global business footprint.
In November 2009, Hill-Rom announced a joint venture with Encompass Group to
provide acute care institutions with a broader range of surface replacement
systems for the company' s large installed base of hospital frames as well as
competitors' frames.
In terms of product development, in April 2009, Hill-Rom announced a strategic
development arrangement with TeleTracking Technologies to invest in and
commercialise the next-generation of patient flow and nurse communication
solutions designed to enhance efficiency, improve patient safety and integrate
communications within the healthcare environment. In addition, Hill-Rom and
TeleTracking have established a joint sales and marketing arrangement to use
the combined market reach of the two companies as they take patient flow and
nurse communications solutions to market. As part of the agreement,
TeleTracking purchased the assets of Hill-Rom' s Patient Flow product line,
thereby bringing the complete workflow solution into TeleTracking' s software
and service offerings. This arrangement allows for each company to focus on
and leverage its core competencies and support the companies' commitment to
pursue initiatives and opportunities that leverage their combined strengths in
delivering greater value to hospital customers.
Hill-Rom employs approximately 6,500 people worldwide and has manufacturing
facilities in the US, France, Mexico, Australia and Sweden. It also operates a
number of other facilities, warehouse distribution centres and service centres
throughout the US, Canada, Western Europe, Mexico, Australia, the Middle East
and the Far East. In the year ended 30th September 2009, the company reported
net revenues of US$1,387 million, which included US$922 million from capital
sales and US$465 million from rental services.
