Business Strategy: Banking Consolidation in Asia/Pacific -- Which Banks Are Most Likely to Succeed in 2010? published by IDC Financial Insights in December, 2009. This report consists of Pages: 32 and the price starts from US $ 4750.
Abstract
This IDC Financial Insights report examines current opportunities of banks
in 11 Asia/Pacific markets to undertake merger, acquisition, regionalization, and
consolidation activities. The report points out how these activities have
been precipitated, encouraged, or forced by the adverse conditions of
the crisis. IDC Financial Insights also discusses how the new
organizations formed out of the current spate of mergers and
acquisitions will most likely fare in the postcrisis environment.
Michael Araneta,
senior consulting and research manager of IDC Financial Insights Asia/Pacific
remarks, "While we expect the number of banks worldwide to
shrink by about 5% by 2010, the current tally for
the Asia/Pacific region points to more, not fewer, financial institutions.
However, we note increasing concentration of market share among tier
1 institutions. Large banks will get even greater pricing advantage
and will also have deeper pockets for marketing, branding, and
channel expansion."
Araneta continues, "In 2010, the region will continue to
see the emergence of super-regional banks. While we expect these
organizations to fill in some of the void left by
global players retreating from the region, these super-regionals are creating
their own unique propositions as truly Asia-centric powerhouses."
