The Present and the Future of Physical Security and Building Technologies in Retail
This study's research objective is to gauge the usage of building technologies
and physical security technologies within United States retail chains. The
data was collected in August 2011, using a web-based survey. The sample
consisted of 182 managers. The study examines technologies including access
control systems: keypads, card readers, and analog video surveillance that
help minimize threats such as shoplifting. Also covered are technologies used
in retail premises, including fire suppression and detection, HVAC, energy
management, and remote monitoring systems.
