Introduction

Abstract

The Global Biodiesel industry has grown significantly over the past decade captivating the interest of various industry groups such as governments, end users, Biodiesel producers and oil seed (feedstock) growers. Some of the main drivers behind this tremendous growth are - reducing dependence on imported oil, environmentally friendly alternative to diesel, Kyoto protocol (for reducing greenhouse gas emission), able to use Biodiesel blended fuel in the existing diesel engines without (or little) modifications and compatible with existing fuel distribution infrastructure.

The Global Biodiesel market is estimated to reach 37 billion gallons by 2016 growing at an average annual growth of 42%. Europe will continue as the major Biodiesel market for the next decade or so with closely followed by the US market.

We have put together this research study to provide the reader with better understanding of Biodiesel market status, production process, public policy, major players and application trends. This study consists of current market status, share, size and forecast for the three major geographical regions (Europe, USA and Rest of the World). It also discusses about the various Government policies, incentives, tax credits and fuel quality issues and standards that have been undertaken around the world to promote Biodiesel production and use. Profiles of 20 major Biodiesel producers in the US region and 12 major Biodiesel producers in the European region have been discussed in this market research study.
