Abstract
IDC Retail Insights evaluated 15 vendors on their ability to
provide a retail demand intelligence (RDI) platform that drives customer-centric
precision retailing. This report serves as a starting point for
retailers as they launch their own exploratory or selection processes.
Ivano
Ortis, EMEA research director, IDC Retail Insights, said, "Retailers see
retail demand intelligence as the most pressing technological issue on
which to invest right now. Oracle achieved the highest score
in the retail demand intelligence vendor leadership grid. Nonetheless, several
vendors are challenging Oracle and each retailer will have specific
needs, so it is important to push vendors to provide
a detailed solution to a business scenario map."
Leslie Hand, research
director, IDC Retail Insights, said, "Retailers need a single platform
that drives planning across business functions without this, they
lack a single version of the truth, and planning processes
are disconnected. Technology, in the form of integrated planning applications,
is now available that can help retailers improve top-line and
bottom-line results."
