Business Strategy: Personalized Medicine Looking Forward published by IDC Health Insights in December, 2009. This report consists of Pages: 16 and the price starts from US $ 4500.
Abstract
This IDC Health Insights report identifies and discusses key strategic
insights supporting the move toward personalized medicine (PM) as a
function of health industry market segments. Specifically, each segment discusses
current segment-specific PM-based efforts, key signposts of progress, market drivers
impacting the segment, and both near- and long-term market opportunities
for the segment.
As we continue to hear more and more
about broad efforts to transform the health industry toward PM-based
solutions, it is useful to look more closely at both
the incremental efforts being made today and the longer-term efforts
that should lead to a sustainable transformation toward ubiquitous PM.
Despite current announcements, we remain very early in the broad
adoption of PM, both in the United States and in
the rest of the world. It is clear that PM
is the future, but much needs to happen for PM
to become common practice.
"While a future based on personalized medicine
is virtually assured, the path to personalized medicine is not
yet set in stone. There are several paths that will
yield successful end points in the future, and the actions
we take today will largely determine which path is likely
to succeed. For each market segment, there are specific signposts
of progress that can provide insights as to which paths
are advancing and which are not. For companies looking to
succeed in the new personalized medicine ecosystem, it is critical
that they recognize progress and adapt their business strategies if
they are going to grow and flourish in this new
world," said Alan Louie, research director for IDC Health Insights.
