Abstract
This IDC study presents 2008 revenue data and provides a
five-year forecast for the worldwide availability and clustering software (ACS)
market. The availability and clustering software market continued to grow
in calendar-year 2008 across geographic regions and server operating environments
— although the growth rate slowed due to economic conditions
worldwide affecting computer deployments.
"Importantly, new use cases for ACS software
continued to develop in 2008," said Jean S. Bozman, research
vice president, Enterprise Platforms at IDC, "as virtualization of x86
server infrastructure proceeded in 2008, bringing more VMs per physical
server, and bringing more important workloads into the virtualized x86
server space."
