Introduction

Abstract

This IDC study presents an updated look at the worldwide PC marketplace going forward. It incorporates the latest quarter of 2Q09 with the forecast out to 2013. It is valid as of September 2009 and provides forecast and growth figures for PC shipments at the worldwide level and for key regional markets.

"The strength of consumer portables has maintained the PC market through the global recession," says Andrew Hanson, analyst, U.S. Quarterly PC Tracker program. "But the release of Windows 7 and the return of normal commercial refresh cycles will return the market to traditional seasonal growth rates in late 2009 and 2010."
