Introduction

Abstract

This IDC study examines the attitudes of home-based businesses toward the current state of the economy as well as home office acquisition and ownership of products and technologies including mobile phones and smartphones; desktop, notebook, and netbook PCs; printers and MFPs; and LANs and Internet access.

"Home office households in general and home-based businesses in particular continue to represent an important opportunity for IT vendors," says Justin Jaffe, senior research analyst in IDC' s Home Office Market program. "Despite real concerns about the economy, these households continue to spend more on advanced technology than households in general, setting the pace for technology adoption in a variety of categories from smartphones to notebook PCs to local area networks."
