Introduction

Abstract

This IDC study takes data integration and access software market vendor shares for 2008, and the forecast for 2009–2013, and breaks them down by submarket segment. These segments include bulk data movement software, dynamic data movement software, domain-based matching and cleansing software, general data quality tools, data access infrastructure, and composite data frameworks. Vendor shares are provided for the years 2005–2008 for each segment, as well as a five-year forecast for 2009–2013 by segment.

"Data integration and access (DIA) software is a vital element in the future of computing. Despite disappointing returns that are likely to occur during 2009, this fact will remain," says Carl W. Olofson, research vice president for Database Management and Data Integration Software. "This market is poised for much greater growth, but the current economic malaise has impeded its immediate performance potential. Over the long run, however, there is considerable growth opportunity for each of its submarket segments."
