Abstract
This IDC study provides a snapshot of the Canadian electronic
medical record (EMR) market by profiling leading ambulatory electronic medical
records vendors and identifying major trends and barriers of this
market. In this study, IDC evaluates vendor market offerings and
positioning, go-to-market strategies, and strategic innovation capabilities. The companies assessed
in this study were selected based on their ability to
maintain, or achieve, a pan-Canadian presence in the market.
"The Canadian
EMR market is very complex. Each province has its own
nuances, operational challenges, and all are at different stages of
EMR adoption. To further complicate, many doctors are still resistant
to replace their paper-based systems with a new EMR system.
Strong educational programs and a targeted focus will assist in
moving this Canadawide initiative forward", says Alison Brooks, director of
Public Sector research at IDC Canada.
