Introduction

Abstract

This IDC study quantifies the worldwide MFP market opportunity and analyzes its issues and trends. It includes inkjet, monochrome laser, and color laser technology forecasts and combines them to examine the total market. The forecasts contain data for the United States, Western Europe, Asia/Pacific and Japan, and the rest of the world (ROW) markets for 2006–2013. Unit shipment, value of shipment, and average selling value (ASV) information is presented. Data for 2006–2008 is actual; data for 2009–2013 is projected.

"It may be too early to say that the economic crisis of 2008 is well behind us. However, IDC has observed some signs of a recovery that may well translate to a period of positive growth by 2010. As IT spending picks up in the United States and Western Europe, it will result in a growth in MFP demand as well. With emerging economies holding their own well enough, the worldwide MFP market has been projected to get back on a growth trajectory by 2010," said Sahaja Sarathy, IDC senior research analyst, Hardcopy Peripherals.
