Introduction

Abstract

This IDC study provides an analysis of the adoption trend lines for Intelligent Mail Barcode and Automated Document Factory (ADF) within datacenter, in-plant, and service bureau print environments. Although many print and mail operations perceive themselves to be highly efficient, most agree there is more to improve with regard to automation and paying lower postage rates.

"Datacenters, in-plants, and service bureaus indicate strong demand for Intelligent Mail Barcode and ADF offerings. There is also high interest in an Intelligent Mail solution that is integrated within an ADF. Although the economy continues to struggle with a slow recovery, as momentum picks up, print and mail operations can be expected to pull the trigger on purchase decisions to drive greater efficiency and cost effectiveness within their operations." — Riley McNulty, research manager, IDC Production and Large Format service
