Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese
report, IDC #J9310103) presents forecasts for the datacenter service market
by segment (collocation, hosting, and IT services) up to 2013
based on the trends as of September 2009. It also
provides profiles of the top 6 datacenter service providers (SPs)
and presents some of the results of IDC' s user survey,
which was conducted in September 2009.
IDC believes that the Japan
datacenter service market will maintain positive growth rates in 2009
though these will decrease in 2010 due to the global
economic recession. "Although the market' s growth rate will increase from
2010 onward along with the expected economic recovery, the market
will still gradually head toward a stable rather than rapid
growth. It is important for datacenter SPs to provide highly
efficient and reliable services to differentiate themselves from their competitors
instead of simply offering facility rental and operation monitoring services,"
says Mimei Ito, research manager, IT Service Research, IDC Japan.
