Western European Vertical Market Structure Indicators: 2008 published by IDC in December, 2009. This report consists of Pages: 28 and the price starts from US $ 7200.
Abstract
This IDC study provides an analysis of Western European vertical
market indicators aimed at understanding the structure, size, and economic
importance on a country level of all major Western European
industry sectors.
The focus is on the contribution of vertical markets
to total GDP on a country level, and on employment
numbers by vertical market in the 16 Western European countries
in 2008. To assess IT sophistication levels, IT-over-GDP and IT-per-employee
ratios are also identified for each vertical market in each
of the 16 countries.
Vertical markets covered include: agriculture, construction, mining,
discrete manufacturing, process manufacturing, transport, communications, utilities, retail/wholesale, finance, central
and local government, healthcare, education, business services, and other services.
"IT
efficiency varies considerably from country and vertical market perspectives, but
generally speaking GDP per employee tends to be higher in
those verticals that invest more in IT. While most companies
are looking to control costs and improve the financial justification
for continued IT investment in the short term, there are
companies (in particular midmarket companies) that have endured the recession
better and recognize the value of new strategic applications deployment.
Marketing messages around gains in efficiency could thus prove rewarding,"
said Nina Bonagura, senior research analyst, European Vertical Markets.
