Abstract
This IDC study examines the applications and costs of solid
state drives (SSDs) in storage systems deployed in virtualized server
and desktop environments.
"With the intense interest in SSDs, finding cost-effective
applications for the technology is paramount," said Benjamin S. Woo,
program vice president for Storage Systems at IDC. "The use
of SSDs in virtualized server and especially virtualized desktop environments
can increase performance and reduce datacenter capital and operational costs."
