Introduction

Abstract

This document highlights IDC' s top 10 predictions for BPO services in Western Europe in 2010, along with guidance for vendors in this market.

"2010 will be a year of recovery for BPO, with the ' pause for thought' by BPO buyers now over and demand slowly recovering," said Douglas Hayward, IDC research manager for BPO and business consulting in Western Europe.

"Although cost will once again be ' king' in 2010, a simple focus on cost cutting will not suffice for vendors. They need to have both a ' cloud story' and a ' growth agenda story,' for example, and they need to build more value-added services into their offering portfolios. Moreover, the ' Indian challenge' to onshore-based vendors will continue and intensify during the year," said Hayward.
