Introduction

Abstract

This IDC study presents our top 10 predictions for the Canadian ICT market in 2010. These predictions are focused on 2010 but often have longer-term impacts. They were originally presented in a Webcast on December 17, 2009 (see IDC Canada 2010 Predictions: ICT Transformation and Canada' s Economic Recovery, IDC #CA1ES10, January 2010, for the replay), and are based on input from IDC analysts from both Canada and around the world. With over 35 analysts in Canada and 1,000 worldwide, we have deep insight into the ICT market and provide a holistic view of the ICT marketplace. This document is designed to provide additional details and clarity around these predictions, the results of our live poll questions, and answers to other questions posed during the Web conference to give our customers the greatest level of insight and actionable advice in today' s ICT environment.

"Last year, we predicted that ICT would emerge better, stronger. We submitted that this crisis would drive our industry forward with efficiencies, resulting in products and services that matter. We believe that the industry has made some important shifts over the last year, and these are reflected in our top 10 predictions for 2010," says Vito Mabrucco, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Consulting and Managing Director of IDC Canada.
