This IDC study provides IDC's forecast for the worldwide and U.S. IS outsourcing services market for the 2014-2018 forecast period. This study highlights key assumptions and drivers that are creating significant changes in this market. IDC expects that at a worldwide level, the ISO market will decline at a five-year CAGR of 0.6%, reaching $113.3 billion in 2018.
"The IS outsourcing services market, also many times referred to as 'traditional' datacenter outsourcing, is undergoing considerable change with buyer adoption of new technologies (e.g., virtualization, automated provisioning, mobile devices) and new service consumption models involving cloud services, which is placing increasing pressure on providers in this space to fundamentally change their business models," says David Tapper, VP, Outsourcing and Offshore Services at IDC. "Making the right adjustments will require that service providers and outsourcers understand how buyer sourcing strategies for outsourced-managed services will fundamentally change in areas such as financial and contract management, supplier structure, quality-of-service requirements, buyer adoption road map and sequence of cloud services, relationship structure and requirements, and expectations of service providers."
