This IDC study highlights the worldwide revenue and shipments for enterprise IP PBX lines/seats and IP telephones for 2011. IDC expects several consecutive years of IP PBX market growth as IP telephony remains a key component of many vendors' and enterprise end users' UC plans for the future.
"Driving the market will be new applications designed for these platforms for business use, likely targeted at key vertical markets such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, retail, financials, and other areas as well," said Rich Costello, senior research analyst, Enterprise Communications Infrastructure and Unified Communications. "Technologies such as video, collaboration, mobility, and enterprise social networking are increasingly being integrated with contact centers, IP telephony platforms, and UC portfolios and should further help drive market growth going forward as businesses enhance their networks and communications platforms to support new technologies and applications."
