This IDC study looks at worldwide 2011 financial accounting applications vendor shares. "In a better-than-expected market for financial accounting applications, driven by mobile, social, and analytics and business trying to do more with less through shared services and process automation initiatives, the real news in 2011 and looking forward to 2012 is cloud computing," said Scott Guinn, research director, Enterprise Applications. "Cloud computing is no longer just for the peripheral financial accounting functions but increasingly for core financials, from small to large businesses. However, regulations and business preferences will mandate that a variety of delivery options (on-premise, private and public cloud, SaaS/on-premise hybrid, and BPO) are offered by vendors."
