This IDC study examines the revenue performance of the top 10 application services vendors in Western Europe, ranking them by estimated 2011 revenues. As this is IDC's first iteration of a top 10 for overall provision of application services in Western Europe, there are no growth estimates.
"Overall we anticipate that 2012 will be a tough year for application services providers with growth forecasts to remain flat as buyer and business confidence remains fragile. We expect pockets of growth to be evident for systems integration projects and smaller phased application outsourcing engagements as simplification, consolidation, and rationalization of application portfolios remains the focal point. European enterprises are also expected to increase spend on cloud advisory and migration/implementation services in 2012. However, we believe the best short-term opportunities will predominantly come from the existing client base, and the ability of the vendor to capitalize on cross- and up-sell opportunities," said Jennifer Thomson, director, European Services. "Continued acceleration of industrialization is critical, as repeatability and scalability are key to next-generation application services. Industrialization drives down costs and prices, but dominant players that can exploit scale advantages can protect or grow margins."
