For non-x86 technologies, IDC expects the CAGR in 2011-2016 to stand at -3.8% in revenue terms, for non-x86 technologies.
"RISC systems are forecast to fare slightly better than the non-x86 market average, because technology updates by the main vendors will spur competition and lower prices, making the systems a more attractive proposition to end-users," said Beatriz Valle, senior research analyst, IDC European Systems and Infrastructures Group. "Despite a certain stabilization of the market, non-x86 technologies will continue to be eroded from migration to x86, and it is highly unlikely sales will ever return to prerecession levels."
