This IDC study presents the current forecasts for U.S. and worldwide households that have at least one high-definition television, digital video recorder, or 3D-capable HDTV. The U.S. forecasts show both households that have each of these technologies and penetration into total U.S. households. Historical data dating back to 2005 for HDTV and DVR households is also provided for the U.S. market.
"While HDTV and DVR remain key cornerstones of the consumer video market, 3DTV is still very much a work in progress and shows few signs of gaining traction," said Greg Ireland, research manager, Connected Consumer: Video at IDC.
