This IDC study examines how far European IT decision makers are with mobile IT access and what their attitudes are with respect to the so-called social Web. This end-user information is based on an IDC survey of 700 European organizations' IT decision makers from small, midsize, and large European organizations. This study presents the survey results related to social software and the social Web and interprets these results in an enterprise application context. The results are furthermore examined by country, industry, and organization size.
"Current mobile IT access in Europe is overwhelmingly driven by access to email, calendar, and Web browsing. However, when it comes to providing mobile access to transactional and analytical enterprise applications, approximately one in ten organizations has made progress today. The survey also points to limited adoption of BYOD with only one in ten European organizations supporting some sort of BYOD policy among employees. However, we expect mobile device and BYOD adoption to strongly increase in the coming years," said Anders Munk Ebbesen, IDC research manager, Nordic Software.
