Abstract
This study presents IDC Canada' s five-year forecast for the Canadian
healthcare IT market for 2009–2013. All three major IT markets
(hardware, software, and IT services) are covered, and IDC provides
a brief qualitative overview of the circumstances and conditions associated
with this forecast. Despite the economic downturn, IDC expects the
healthcare market to be affected comparatively less than other sectors.
This resiliency doesn' t mean that the healthcare sector is recession
proof, however. This document reports on IT investments and growth
from 2009 to 2013.
"Now more than ever, vendors will need
to focus on iron-clad business cases. Investments that have a
clearly demonstrable ROI stand the best chance of surviving recessionary
tendencies to proceed slowly or not at all," says Alison
Brooks, director, Public Sector Research, IDC Canada.
