Abstract
In 2011, the total European market for orthopedic trauma devices was valued at
over € 670 million.
The European orthopedic trauma device market includes plates and screws,
intramedullary nails, hip intramedullary nails, compression hip screws,
cannulated screws and external fixation devices. All of these segments were
negatively affected by the European sovereign debt crisis in 2011, due to cuts
to reimbursement and a continued rise in public tendering. However, as the
economy recovers from this downturn, market growth will rebound to pre-crisis
levels and continue to be driven by the aging population in Europe.
Scope: This report pertains to a forecast period of 10 years (2009 -
2019) for Germany, France, U.K., Italy, Spain, Benelux, Scandinavia, Austria,
Switzerland, Portugal.
