Abstract
In 2010, the concepts of 3D, OTT, and Smart TV triggered a new wave in the
digital TV market. The emergences of online music and video content and home
connected networks have inevitably affected the digital TV market. As a
result, digital TV services and digital STBs have begun to evolve. In 2010,
with operators' efforts to promote HD channels, the share of HD STB increased
significantly and the share of internet connected STB grew at a steady pace as
well. Furthermore, worldwide satellite TV shipment volume also enjoyed
year-on-year growth in 2010 and growth momentum is expected to continue well
into 2011. This report analyzes worldwide digital cable, IP and satellite STB
market developments in 2010; and explores key development trends of the
digital IP, cable, and satellite STB industries in 2011 and beyond.
