The Taiwanese Tablet Industry, 3Q 2014

This research report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of the Taiwanese tablet industry. The report includes shipment volume and value, ASP, and product mix analysis. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with tablet makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese tablet industry's shipment volume reached about 21.8 million units in the second quarter of 2014, up 3.4% sequentially. However, as prices of tablets are falling further down, the price gap between major brands and white-box vendors is narrowing, thereby affecting Taiwan's tablet shipments in 2014 and even in 2015. Although the worldwide tablet market growth is anticipated to see an evident slowdown in 2014 compared to 2013, Taiwan's tablet industry is anticipated to have still grown modestly in the third quarter of 2014 and even reach its highest quarterly volume for the year in the fourth quarter.
