Introduction

Abstract

Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system, made up of a network of satellites. GPS is made up of three parts: satellites orbiting the Earth; control and monitoring stations on Earth; and the GPS receivers owned by users. GPS satellites broadcast signals from space, and are picked up and identified by the GPS receivers. Each GPS receiver then provides the three-dimensional location (latitude, longitude, and altitude) plus the time. The receiver with an antenna is tuned to the frequencies of transmitted signal. The received signal is fed in the processor, along with display screen to map the location or calculate the time taken to reach the destination. The information can then be used by various systems (computer systems, communication devices for different functions).
GPS applications vary from standalone applications to integrated applications. These applications range include navigation, tracking, surveying, mapping, etc. One of the major factors for the growth of GPS is the increase in the demand of mobile location technologies. Further, timing and location capabilities of GPS account for its growth in applications, such as disaster relief & emergency services, banking, and power grid control. The automotive and consumer industries also have a large demand for GPS.
China is developing at very fast rate with changes in the cities, rapid highway constructions, and increase in number of vehicles registered, posing a growing demand for GPS products. Thus, the Chinese market provides huge potential for growth of GPS.
This report by TechNavio Insights provides insights about the market estimates of the GPS in China, and the market segmentation based on geographies. It also provides information regarding the current market trends, growth drivers, and inhibitors in the Chinese GPS market.
