Introduction

Abstract

Report Summary

This new series of customer insights reports will provide suppliers of ultrasound imaging equipment with direct feedback from doctors and imaging specialists working with ultrasound equipment in Eastern Europe.

Three reports are available in the “Eastern European Customer Insights” series, each one dedicated to a different medical speciality:

  • Ultrasound in Cardiology
  • Ultrasound in OB/GYN
  • Ultrasound in General Radiology

The questionnaires used to survey doctors and imaging specialists in Eastern Europe were developed with some of the major equipment manufacturers of ultrasound imaging equipment, to focus on key marketing and product development areas. An open questionnaire design was used to maximise doctors input and obtain unique personal insights.

The reports were compiled after surveying doctors and sonographers across 15 Eastern European countries, including Russia. Answers are provided to key questions such as:

  • Which factors are most important in ultrasound equipment purchase decisions?
  • Which ultrasound manufacturers have the strongest brand awareness and which are the most commonly used systems?
  • What are doctors' expectations of the future role of hand-carried and portable ultrasound versus cart-based systems?
  • What are the improvements required and common difficulties faced when using ultrasound in Eastern European countries?
  • Which examinations are most commonly carried out with ultrasound and how frequently are they performed?
  • What are the training and service requirements from the Eastern European region?
  • Which trends are expected to influence the use of ultrasound?

The report compiles and analyses the results and full responses to the open questions are presented in the Appendix of the report. Excel databases are also available to purchase which provide the raw data collected from each survey.
