Abstract
Executive Summary
The paint and coatings industry is going through a phase of acquisitions,
while market share is shifting from the major manufacturers based in the US
and Europe counties to those based in Asian countries including Japan, Korea,
China and India. Markets in Asia and Eastern Europe are showing immense
potential for the growth of industrial coatings. The global coating industry
is dominated by the North American market. China is the largest consumer of
coating additives in Asia, and accounts for around one third of the total
market share. The Indian market is dominated by the decorative paint and
coatings segment.
Growth in the marine coatings market mainly comes from the developing
construction market in new building in the Asia-Pacific region and a high
demand for exported goods from the region. Another important market is that of
automotive coatings which is due to an increase in new car sales in Europe and
growth in car manufacturing in China.
The industry is dealing with several issues, a major one of them is the
unprecedented escalation in the price of oil, natural gas and raw materials,
which is having a significant impact on the marine coating industry.
The report presents an analysis of the worldwide coatings market with an
overview of the major markets and their respective segments. It also focuses
on major growth factors driving the market and key issues affecting it. It
discusses the current industry trends. The report also profiles the major
competitors in the market and outlook of the paint and coating industry.
