Introduction

Abstract

Executive Summary

People who suffer from urinary incontinence (UI) not only face embarrassment but also go through a lot of pain and inconvenience it causes. UI leads to frequent and unplanned trips to the lavatory and makes it inconvenient for the people suffering from it, especially during the night time when they are sleeping and incontinence occurs. The affected person experiences a strong sense of urgency in UI, which produces a serious concern of being too far from the facilities. Though incontinence is related to the normal bodily function, it impacts the quality of life significantly as it affects sleep, energy levels and social interactions.

UI affects both males and females and it has been noted that the possibility of someone developing UI increases with growing age. In some case, UI affects females after child birth or menopause. Despite of the mentioned observations, UI has not yet been classified as a disease related to old age or a definite outcome of childbirth in females.

Among the four established types of UI, stress incontinence is the most common among females. Various options are available in the market for UI treatment, which include surgical procedures, drugs and medications but the treatment is to be chosen on the basis of the type of incontinence the patient is suffering from.

The continence care products include devices, diapers, pads, and urisheaths. The diapers and pads are being used just for maintenance of UI, while the devices and drugs are used in the treatment of the same. Globally, people are increasingly getting aware regarding UI and are slowly starting to overcome the embarrassment as patients are moving away from just managing their problem towards getting a permanent solution for UI.

This report gives an overview about the market of incontinence products, concentrating specifically on the devices. It analyzes the market on a global basis, in terms of industry growth, market share of players as well regional market shares. The drivers and challenges of the market are also highlighted in the report. Lastly, it profiles the leading market players.
