Handset Advances: Meeting the Social Networking Needs of Prepay Customers published by Mobile Market Development Ltd in November, 2009. This report consists of 31 PAGES and the price starts from US $ 3500.

Introduction

Abstract

Social network access via mobile handsets was initially disappointing, as the limitations of the handsets owned by the majority of the main users of social networks (young people) did not provide an alluring interface. Now, however, the availability of higher speed mobile broadband connectivity through the deployment of HSPA and HSPA+ together with low-cost but high function mobile handsets has resulted in this application area becoming one of the key areas of potential growth for MNOs in Europe and beyond. Forward-thinking handset manufacturers and MNOs are already delivering handsets and services to meet social networking needs among the prepay community, where smartphones and data usage have previously been rare (or limited to music and personalisation downloads).

This report reviews recent developments in this field, and examines what steps MNOs must take to ensure they maximise the benefit of this key growth area - both in terms of customer acquisition and retention and also to increase revenues from this important group. The report concludes with seven concrete recommendations for MNOs.
