Electric Two-Wheel Vehicles: Electric Bicycles, Mopeds, Scooters, and Motorcycles: Market Analysis and Forecasts published by Pike Research in February, 2010. This report consists of 37 pages and the price starts from US $ 2500.
Abstract
Electric bicycles and electric scooters have seen substantial growth in sales
around the world in recent years, while outside China, the electric motorcycle
market remains in the early adopter stage. China' s market for e-bikes and
e-motorcycles dwarfs demand from all other regions combined, and consists of
98% of the global market. While demographics, social and economic forces align
to encourage market growth of e-bikes and e-scooters, a lack of a well-defined
retail channel hampers faster adoption in North America and Europe. The
worldwide electric two-wheel vehicle market is expected grow at a compound
annual rate of 9% through 2016.
This Pike Research report provides an overview of the global market for
electric motorcycles, electric scooters, and electric bicycles. The report
provides a comprehensive overview of the battery technology, key opportunities
and barriers, and key drivers of market growth. The study explores the
demographic and economic forces that impact the growth of electric two-wheel
vehicles. Detailed forecasts are included for electric motorcycles, electric
scooters and electric bikes in different global regions. Key market players
are also profiled.

Global Information would like to present a market research report, "Electric Two-Wheel Vehicles: Electric Bicycles, Mopeds, Scooters, and Motorcycles: Market Analysis and Forecasts" by Pike Research.
Electric bicycles are part of a diverse group of light electric vehicles that provide convenient local transportation. They offer efficient, quiet, and cleaner transportation without the extra burdens of owning a car. For the majority of the populations, our trips average less than 10 miles, which is well within the range of most electric bicycles.
Electric scooters are also gaining in popularity because they offer several advantages over their gas-powered counterparts: 1) elimination of noise and air pollution associated with gas-powered scooters; 2) allowed on public transit (plane/bus/train); 3) allowed inside public buildings where gas-powered scooters are forbidden; 4) electric motors offer fast starts and uphill movement without the delay of "ramp up" from gas engines; and 5) less maintenance because of electric motors simplicity.
The electric motorcycles market still remains in the early adopter stage for most of the world outside of China, despite the fact that both electric scooters and electric bicycles have experienced significant growth in sales around the globe in recent years. The Chinese market for e-motorcycles and e-bikes consists of 98% of the international market. As social and economic forces align with demographics, it will only encourage the market growth of e-bicycles and e-scooters. However, a well-defined retail channel is necessary in order to help nurture and develop the emerging light electric vehicle market in Europe and North America.
