Introduction

Abstract

The evolution of 3G networks have given rise to more sophisticated and advanced interactive mobile services, particularly video services, such as mobile TV, video calling and video mail. The purpose of this market research brief is to analyse the market for video mail services for WCDMA network operators. Specifically, the study aims to understand the current market for video mail services and its expected growth. The study focuses most critically on analyzing the relative positions of major video mail solution vendors with their corresponding market share in the industry, with some geographical segmentation.

The acceptance of video mail services is on the rise, as indicated by the number of operators providing these services. As at the end of December 2005, we studied 107 active WCDMA networks worldwide, and we found that more than 15 million WCDMA subscribers had access to a video mail service, offered by 24 separate network operators. Many more operators are expected to deploy video mail solutions in the coming months to boost call completion rates and generate additional revenues. In this over-supplied market vendors will continue to fight hard for every order as the market matures throughout 2006 and 2007.
