Introduction

Abstract

The telecommunications market in El Salvador generated $1.43bn in 2009, a 2% drop compared with the revenue in 2008 as a result of the economic crisis and the maturity of the mobile voice market. Going forward, Pyramid Research forecasts that the market will expand at a rate of 5.2% over the next five years, thanks to advances in mobile data (CAGR of 18.1%), fixed broadband (17.4%) and pay-TV (6.9%). Mobile voice services, the largest contributor accounting for 51% of total revenue in 2009, will expand at a rate of 2.5% to generate $823m by 2014.
