Abstract
Affected by sluggish market demand, China' s coal tar output decreased to 8.26
million tons in 2008, down 1.6% yr-on-yr; and the figure rose to 8.81 million
tons in 2009, up 6.6% yr-on-yr. There are two main reasons here: First, steel
output grew under the drive of consumer demand, and the operating rate of coke
enterprises kept improving; second, the market demand for carbon black and
coal tar pitch etc increased in the second half of 2009.
As the Chinese government imposed restrictions on the export of energy &
resource products, China' s coal tar exports dropped sharply. In 2009, China' s
export of coal tar accumulated to 9,318.15 tons and valued at US$2.88 million,
decreasing by 93% and 96% respectively.
