Australian Fixed-Mobile Convergence Market, 2007 Assessment & 2008-2012 Forecast published by Telsyte in December, 2007. This report consists of 27 Pages, 7 figures, 3 Tables and the price starts from US $ 3295.

Introduction

Abstract

“Australia is falling behind other comparable markets when it comes to FMC, with commercialised offerings and notable consumer and business adoption not expected until 2010. That puts us three to five years behind Europe, North America and certain economies in Asia.”

INTRODUCTION

This Telsyte study, which forms part of Telsyte' s annual Technology Assessment Report Series, analyses industry dynamics and examines the latest market developments in fixedmobile convergence (FMC) in Australia.

The report offers:

  • Australia' s first FMC user forecast from 2008 to 2012;
  • Telsyte' s five-phase FMC evolution and roadmaps for full-service operators,mobile-only operators and enterprise end-users from an application/service perspective;
  • An FMC primer by providing FMC definitions, features, enablers, value propositions, drivers and inhibitors for consumers, businesses and service providers;
  • A brief review of recent global FMC movements by looking at FMC launches from carriers in Europe (BT, France Telecom), North America (T-Mobile), and Asia (Korea Telecom, NTT DoCoMo, SingTel and FarEasTone); and
  • FMC strategies, positioning and outlook of Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson, two of Australia' s leading telecom equipment vendors.

Methodology

Market sizing and forecast in this study is from Telsyte' s Instant Forecast, Australia' s first telecommunications industry metrics and forecasting online database. Since FMC users will be simultaneous mobile and broadband users, the FMC forecast leverages the Mobile and Broadband modules of the Instant Forecast database.

In estimating FMC adoption, Telsyte also consulted its annual business telecom decision maker surveys, which polled over 900 Australian decision makers across all business sizes and covered broadband, mobile and enterprise communications usage. Questions relating to FMC included interest in and adoption intention of multi-mode handsets, mobile VoIP, and mobile PBX.
