About Our Data

TeleGeography surveys service providers offering layer 2 Ethernet VPN (EVPN) or VPLS services targeted at mid-market/enterprise customers. We cover operators providing services in more than 160 major business capitals across Europe, Asia, North America, Africa, and Latin America. Service providers fill out pricing tables for their network EVPN services. The data tables present monthly recurring charges for capacities between 1 Mbps and 10 GigE for EVPN services.

Carriers participate on an anonymous basis. Currently, there are more than 160 cities in over 80 countries represented in this database that are actively tracked.

App subscribers also gain access to TeleGeography's enterprise market summary-a deep dive into the landscape of wide area network trends and pricing.

Using This App

  • Carrier Postings: EVPN pricing is reported at the individual carrier price quote level by city, port capacity (Mbps), and class of service. The database includes charting tools, exports to excel, and data searchable by region, country, and city. Data goes back to 2010. Individual providers remain anonymous in the carrier postings, but they are identified by a unique three-letter code throughout the dataset.
  • Statistical Summary: Prices are presented both by individual port and statistical summary. The statistical summary consists of the minimum, median, average, and maximum of all prices recorded for each city/capacity/CoS combination within each quarter.

When changes in carrier participation disrupt the continuity of summary statistics, TeleGeography may carry over values from the previous or subsequent quarter. This lends consistency to the statistical data over time, but may generate quarters for which the statistical summary does not reflect individual carrier data.
