About Our Data

TeleGeography directly surveys facilities-based service providers that offer point-to-point private line TDM. Carriers complete a matrix of available routes and capacities and indicate the non-recurring installation fees and monthly recurring charges.

Domestic and international routes are covered in our list of tracked and surveyed routes. Price points for this service are meant to refer to the core transport network service itself between two carrier PoPs. Additional local access, cross connect, or other bundled services are not included-the transport alone is reflected in collected price points.

Our database is updated quarterly from primary research conducted by TeleGeography analysts. The TDM data tables present monthly recurring lease charges and non-recurring installation charges for capacities from 1.5 Mbps (T1) to 2,500 Mbps (STM16-OC48). Currently, there are more than 200 routes in the database that are actively tracked. Users can locate prices for connections to Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, Central America, and South America. Subscribers to this module also gain access to bi-monthly Bandwidth Pricing Reports.

Using This App

  • Carrier Postings: TDM pricing is reported at the individual carrier price quote level by route and circuit capacity. Individual providers remain anonymous in the carrier postings, but they are identified by a unique three-letter code throughout the dataset.
  • Statistical Summary: Prices are presented both by individual port and statistical summary. The statistical summary consists of the minimum, median, average, and maximum of all prices recorded for each city/capacity/CoS combination within each quarter. When changes in carrier participation disrupt the continuity of summary statistics, TeleGeography may carry over values from the previous or subsequent quarter. This lends consistency to the statistical data over time, but may generate quarters for which the statistical summary does not reflect individual carrier data.
