Wavelengths are high-capacity point-to-point optical transport services between two locations, using dense wavelength-division multiplexing. This app focuses on long-haul city-to-city routes between major global business centers.

About Our Data

TeleGeography directly surveys facilities-based service providers that offer point-to-point wavelength service. Carriers complete a matrix of available routes and capacities and indicate the non-recurring installation fees and monthly recurring charges. Data is collected on capacities from 1 Gbps to 400 Gbps based on a lease term of one-year.

Currently, there are more than 200 routes in our database that are actively tracked. Users can locate prices for connections to Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, Central America, and South America.

Prices are presented both by individual carrier and statistical summary. Individual carrier price quotes are reported by route and circuit capacity. Individual providers remain anonymous in the carrier postings, but are identified with a unique three-letter code throughout the dataset. The statistical summary is comprised of the minimum, median, average, and maximum of all prices recorded for each route and capacity combination within each quarter. The database is updated quarterly from primary research conducted by TeleGeography analysts.

Using This App

• Search: Because wavelengths are tracked on a route basis-rather than a city basis-our search tool allows a user to select an A-end and B-end to pinpoint desired price points. Users are able to select between carrier postings or statistical summary. Search results are easily exported.

• Charts: When it comes to charting, users select explicit routes, circuit, and the desired statistic to track. Our charting tools do the rest of the work.

• Data Downloads: Have your own charting tool? Need to integrate raw data with internal data? Historic/current quarter data is available for download.

• Analysis: Subscribers to this module gain access to bi-monthly Bandwidth Pricing Reports. Each report provides analysis for a specific region or topic. Reports are based on pricing data located in this database, as well as other relevant TeleGeography pricing modules.
